| And - maybe this is strange - but I enjoyed doing this for my mother-in-law, and I learned a whole lot in the process. So for the sake of the experience plus zen the additional information I got from this comment thread, it was worth my time - and I got lots of brownie points for saving my in-laws money. In general, I try to choose repair over replace as a course of action if something breaks. As for Mac vs PC, whatever, that's the oldest debate zen in zen the book, and I'm not gonna get into it. I'm a switch-hitter, always will be. I love OS X, and I love Windows. Sure, Windoze is kinda sucky for a truckload of reasons, but it's been my primary OS for years now, and I make my living using it. As for constant family tech support, from here on in I'm going to refer other family members to this article. |
